It was once pointed out to me by an old chum that understanding the verbiage that spills forth can be somewhat of a challenge. Thanks to one of the modern day chappies under my employ I can present to you a list of my most fabulous vocabulary and their meanings. Over my many years I have embraced the world so why not suggest some splendiforous words for me to learn!
Afternoonified – to smarten up
Bang up the elephant – perfect, complete
Benjo – excitment and noise in the streets/party
Bricky – brave and daring
Buttered your bacon – indulged in extreme extravagance
Cackle-tubs – pulpits
Chuckaboo – A good friend
Dash My Wig! – a statement of shock or surprise “Well dash my wig they succeeded!”
Gigglemug – habitually smiling face
Hornswaggled – to be swindled
Mad as hops – excitable
Mad as wet hens – cross, angry
Making a stuffed bird laugh – utterly ridiculous/preposterous
Meater – Crowd
Morbs – To have the morbs was to suffer from temporary melancholy
Nanty Nark – great fun
Podsnapper – a person determined to ignore anything that does not fit his cause or argument whilst appearing virtuous and superior.
Sauce box – mouth
Selling you a dog – lying
Surfeit – cause (someone) to desire no more of something
Skilamalink – secret, shady, doubtful
Taking the egg – to win at something
